How I Saved Money When I Was Underage

Ever I was a little girl I have been very consistent with my saving and spending habits. When I was in elementary school my dad used to give me $2 once in a while. In middle school he started giving me $10 dollars a week ($2 per day). When I moved on to high school he used to give me $20 ($4 per day).

I remember that it was rare for me to spend money on food at school. I used to always save up the money that I was given instead of wasting it at school or at the store. I used to do this just in case I wanted to make a big purchase. I would feel bad asking my parents for money so I preferred to save up my allowance.

When I was in my senior year of high school I stopped getting free lunch at school because my families income just barely passed the highest income acceptability for free lunch. For the whole year, I basically stopped going to the cafeteria. I would eat a big breakfast and eat a granola bar that I would bring from home. If I was extremely hungry I would pop into the little store located outside the cafeteria and buy a spicy chicken wrap.

Despite not being accepted into the free lunch program I was able to save a lot of money during senior year. With the money I saved I purchased things I would need for my freshman year in college.

If you happen to be reading this and are still going to school, I encourage you to save the money your parents give you and spend it wisely. I choose to do this because I felt bad asking my parents for money to buy something when they already gave me some every week.
