The coconut is one of the most interesting drupe on the planet. They thrive in areas of high heat and humidity. It has an outer shell that not only encases the yummy coconut “flesh” but it also the delicious coconut water. Coconuts are not only eaten but also used in the production of -a little something called- coconut oil.
Coconut oil is solid at or below room temperature but begins to melt when it is above room temperature. When it begins to melt it takes on an oil consistency.
There are many ways in which you can use coconut oil. Below I will just go into a few ways which you can use it.
Face Moisturizer
Coconut oil can actually make a great face moisturizer for some people. I recommend testing it first on you arm or a little section of your face to see if you are allergic or if it causes you to breakout.
Cooking oil
When coconut oil is heated to 76 degrees Fahrenheit or 24 degrees celsius it changes from solid to liquid. The oil can be used in place of any other oil used (vegetable oil, olive oil, etc.).
Lip balm
Coconut oil can be used as a lip balm. All that you need to do is dip a clean hand into the coconut oil jar and apply the coconut oil to your lips. I do this every night and my lips feel soft and plump when I apply it.
Hair oil
Coconut oil can be placed on hair to control it and give it some moisture if it’s dry. I use it on my hair sometimes but I prefer jojoba oil for my hair.
Oil pulling/ Mouth Wash
Some people swear that oil pulling gets rid of impurities in your mouth that are not taken care of by brushing your teeth. They also claim that oil pulling whitens your teeth. I personally tried this method to obtain whiter teeth but gave up after a few weeks with no results. I must say that I could have gone on for several month but choose not to. Maybe you guys are more patient then me and give it a try.
Cuticle oil
If you are giving yourself a manicure or just trying to make your cuticles feel softer, Cocina oil is the right thing for you. Coconut oil leaves cuticles looking and feeling softer.
Shave oil
Coconut oil can be used in its melted face as a shaving oil. It allows the razor to slide more easily giving you a better shave.
Makeup remover
Coconut oil can be used as a makeup remover. There are some oil makeup removers out there and coconut oil can be used instead of buying a really expensive one. It melts away makeup allowing you to get rid of makeup easier.
Body lotion/ body butter/ body oil
Coconut oil can be used throughout your body as a body oil. It really seeps into the skin and will give your skin the moister it needs.
Eyelash oil
Coconut oil can be used as a eyelash oil. Using it as an eyelash oil will promote the growth of your lashes giving you more better fuller lashes.
